5 Reasons the Future of TV Isn’t That Black and White

5 Reasons the Future of TV Isn’t That Black and White

Traditional media has been on its deathbed for years, right? Netflix’s original programming has ushered in a golden age of television. Everyone who isn’t retired ignores the old networks for modern streaming services and amateur digital content creation on social media.

It’s easy to believe that TV is dying when you spend so much time watching Netflix or YouTube, but it’s not as simple as that.

Future of TV

Below, we look at five trends that highlight the future of TV and why we should keep embracing it.

  1. High-Speed Internet Access

Recent streaming wars are the driving force behind high-speed internet connections. But, take one look at look at rural parts of even the most developed countries in the world. A vast number of people still don’t have access to high-speed Internet.

It would be wrong to say these people aren’t watching video streaming sites or watching video on their phones and tablets via a cellphone connection, but there’s nothing quite like watching tv on a larger screen.

Even if you’re moving into a new home without an aerial, there are still plenty of qualified installers for your antenna to future-proof your home.

  1. Watch Your Favorite Shows on TV

You can watch your favorite shows on traditional media from the comfort of your own home or through mobile streaming apps.

You don’t have to switch from Netflix to a streaming service to catch up on your favorite network programming. This flexibility means you can combine subscriptions into an all-in-one package, which for many is the stress-free solution.

  1. Live TV is Still Very Attractive

Sports fans love to watch their favorite teams in action live, and there’s nothing like the atmosphere of a packed stadium. Traditional media still has extreme brand loyalty among sports fans, especially with local coverage of sports.

  1. Traditional Media is Still Reliable

If you want to sample a wide variety of shows and content before subscribing to a streaming service, traditional media is still the best way to do it. If you’re not familiar with a show or network, traditional media can point you in the right direction.

  1. Traditional Media Supports Brands

Traditional media is better at supporting a brand than streaming services. This is because the traditional networks support their brands through  like celebrity endorsements, product placements, and advertising.

There are better ways to support a brand via a sponsorship than you’ll find on a streaming site. Having an established brand means the streamers have more leverage with the more extensive networks and can use the networks for direct marketing campaigns.

As the consumer, that’s a good thing. It means it’ll keep your costs down, especially when it comes to sponsored global tournaments like the Olympics.

The Future of TV is Today

There’s always going to be a need for the televised entertainment industry in some form. And traditional media will continue to grow in popularity.

We don’t foresee streaming services replacing televised content because many customers want one-off or niche content. Instead, they will come together in a connected way that brings the best of both worlds to the end-user. The future of TV has never been so exciting.
