The prestigious UAE President’s Cup Showjumping Event began on Friday at the ADEC International Arena in Abu Dhabi, promising an action-packed weekend of world-class equestrian competition. Organized by the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club (ADEC), the three-day event features both CSI5* and CSI2* categories and showcases elite athletes and horses from the International Federation of Equestrian Sports (FEI) circuit.
Setting a new standard in regional showjumping, the event boasts a record-breaking prize pool of $640,000, making it the most lucrative individual showjumping competition ever held in the UAE. Of the total amount, more than $544,000 is allocated to the CSI5* category and nearly $82,000 to the CSI2*.
Ali Al-Shaiba, Director General of ADEC, expressed pride in hosting the prestigious event. “It is an honor to host the UAE President’s Cup International Showjumping Event, a showcase of elite sport and a celebration of equestrian heritage,” he said. “This event reinforces Abu Dhabi’s commitment to equestrian excellence and reflects the UAE’s emergence as a key player on the global showjumping circuit.”
He also acknowledged the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan—Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court, and President of ADEC—for his continued support in transforming ADEC into a premier equestrian and lifestyle hub.
Riders at the competition will take on technically demanding courses culminating in the CSI5* Grand Prix, which features fences as high as 1.6 meters. The courses are designed by Alan Wade, a globally respected FEI Level Four course designer known for his challenging and innovative layouts.
In addition to the thrilling sporting action, the event will conclude with a special performance titled “A Legacy Unveiled, A Nation United.” The immersive showcase has been specially created for the occasion and celebrates the UAE’s rich and enduring equestrian traditions.
Anthony Lowry, Equestrian Director at ADEC, highlighted the extensive preparations behind the scenes. “Our team has worked tirelessly to elevate this year’s event,” he said. “From upgraded competition arenas to enhanced facilities for both athletes and horses, we’ve created an environment that reflects the highest international standards. We are especially thrilled to welcome such a high-caliber group of competitors to Abu Dhabi.”
With top-tier athletes, exceptional horses, and an atmosphere of tradition and prestige, the UAE President’s Cup Showjumping Event reaffirms the country’s standing on the international equestrian stage.
