Former Croatia Midfielder Nikola Pokrivač Dies in Car Accident at 39

Former Croatian international footballer Nikola Pokrivač has tragically passed away at the age of 39 following a car accident in the city of Karlovac, the Croatian Football Federation confirmed on Saturday.

The accident occurred on Friday night, claiming the life of the former midfielder who once proudly wore the Croatian national jersey at the 2008 UEFA European Championship. The news has sent shockwaves through the Croatian football community and beyond, prompting an outpouring of grief and tributes.

Pokrivač, known for his tenacity on the pitch and resilience off it, earned 15 caps for Croatia between 2008 and 2009. He was a part of the squad that competed in Euro 2008, representing his country at the highest level of European football. Throughout his club career, Pokrivač played for a number of prominent teams, including Croatia’s Dinamo Zagreb, French club AS Monaco, and Austria’s Red Bull Salzburg.
