The semi-finals and final of the Arabian Gulf Cup in Kuwait have been officially scheduled, with the championship match now set for Saturday, January 4, at the Jaber Al Ahmad International Stadium.
The tournament has drawn tens of thousands of fans to the Jaber Al Ahmad and Jaber Al Mubarak International Stadiums, where 12 group stage matches have showcased remarkable performances, making the event a resounding success.
Kuwait, 10-time winners of the Gulf Cup, have impressed with their unbeaten record in Group A, earning one win and two draws to secure a semi-final spot. They will face Bahrain, who advanced from Group B with six points after two victories. This highly anticipated clash is set to take place at the 57,000-capacity Jaber Al Ahmad International Stadium on Tuesday night, with an 8:45 p.m. kickoff.
In the other semi-final, three-time champions Saudi Arabia will face Oman at the Jaber Al Mubarak International Stadium. This match, also scheduled for Tuesday, will kick off at 5:25 p.m. Both matches are expected to draw large crowds, continuing the tournament’s trend of sell-out games.
Organisers have also announced an additional rest day for players ahead of the final, rescheduling it from Friday, January 3, to Saturday, January 4. The decision was made during a meeting of the Gulf Football Federation’s Competitions Committee on Sunday, with unanimous approval from Gulf football federations.
Khaled Al-Muqrin, head of the Competitions Committee, explained the rationale behind the rescheduling: “The extra day will allow players more time to recover and prepare for the final match, ensuring the best possible performance and showcasing the spirit of the Arabian Gulf Cup.”
The tournament has not only celebrated regional football excellence but has also highlighted the passion of fans who have filled stadiums to witness the competition’s exciting moments. The upcoming semi-finals promise thrilling encounters as the top teams vie for a place in Saturday’s final.
As the Gulf Cup reaches its climax, anticipation is building for the crowning of this year’s champions, with Kuwait’s storied history, Bahrain’s determination, Saudi Arabia’s prowess, and Oman’s skill all adding to the drama of the competition’s concluding stages.
