Al-Ahli Maintains Winning Run with 3-0 Victory Over Neom

Al-Ahli on Saturday night continued their hot streak of form to climb to second in the Saudi Pro League with a commanding 3-0 away win against 10-man Neom. The reigning AFC Champions League winners have now won seven consecutive league matches, moving to 40 points from 17 games, just one behind leaders Al-Hilal and three ahead of third-placed Al-Nassr. Both Riyadh teams are yet to play their Matchday 18 fixtures.

The match remained goalless in the first half, but Al-Ahli took the lead on 55 minutes when Ivan Toney converted a penalty. Neom’s task became significantly harder six minutes later after defender Khalifa Al-Dawsari was shown a red card, reducing the hosts to 10 men.

Riyad Mahrez and Enzo Millot sealed the win with two quick goals in the 64th and 67th minutes, confirming Al-Ahli’s dominance. The defeat leaves Neom in 10th place in the league standings.

Earlier on Saturday, Al-Shabab’s struggles continued as they were held to a 0-0 draw by 10-man Khaleej Club. Both teams remain in the lower half of the table, sitting 14th and eighth, respectively, highlighting ongoing challenges for the Riyadh side.

In another match, Ettifaq secured a 2-1 victory over Al-Kholood in Ar Rass. Ramiro Enrique gave the home side an early advantage with a 16th-minute goal, but Khalid Al-Ghannam struck twice in the second half to turn the game around. The win moves Ettifaq up to sixth place, while Al-Kholood remain 12th in the table.

Al-Ahli’s continued success underscores their strong title challenge this season. The team’s mix of clinical finishing and tactical discipline has allowed them to build momentum, positioning them as serious contenders behind Al-Hilal. Meanwhile, Neom and other mid-table clubs will need to regroup quickly to improve their standings.

Saturday’s matches showcased both the rising stars and the struggles within the Saudi Pro League, as teams fought for points in a competitive campaign. Al-Ahli’s performance, in particular, signals their intent to maintain pressure at the top of the table as the season moves deeper into its second half.
