China has introduced a two-kids policy that allows couples to have two children instead of one. However, the comprehensive policy has led an extra 5.4 million births in china about which the Chinese government has never anticipated.
The new policy was announced in 2015, which determined to change the passive growth in population and to avert an economic decline due to the dwindling workforce. For 35 years, china strictly operated the one-child policy to control population growth. Hence this policy could not get long-term impact and probably will take decades to achieve substantial results. In this terrible old policy, gender discrimination was also going high because of the sex-selective aborting and cultural inclination for boys.
As per factual figures, china ‘s population is 1.4 billion now that made it largest populated country in the world with 718 million men and 675 million women, revealing a clear disparity between two genders. After the two-child policy, it was expected to increase the birth rate but it did not happen as much as the government had hoped. The policy also intended a 90 million raise in reproductive women who had one child already and would be allowed to have another child.
