These days what have been observed mostly in Gulf countries that there are a lot of ungenuine and fake recruiters who trap candidates especially from developing countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, African countries and play with their desperations of moving abroad to work and feed their families.
There are genuine “Human Capital” recruiters or “Human Resource” Consultants who bring candidates through job and do not charge a single penny for the process but there are various fake recruiters, scammers, who post fake ads of jobs to trap candidates and then ask for processing fee as well.
Red alerts in order to be saved from such fake recruiters and their trap are;
- Offers will be sent without job interviews.
- Emails ids are most probably not official.
- Mostly at the end of the offer letter, there will be the address of the travel agency and they will ask for a processing fee.
- Job descriptions would be vague or not clear as most of the time it’s written they are hiring for “HR manager” or “Compliance Officer” and later it would turn out role involved “Prostitution”, such type of job offers have an increase risk of “Human trafficking”.
- They won’t ask for in person meeting or telephonic interview etc rather they will directly send a fake offer letter.
- They will ask to pay for all the process for example, processing, training, screening or background check, trail employment etc.
The increased rate of these cases and situation in the whole gulf is due to so much unethical business practice in the market to make money or greed of money that they are using the desperation of labors or actual needy people.
How can be saved from such scams?
When any candidate is approached by a recruiter or receive any call or email do the following;
- Double-check from the organization through a direct call to HR or write an email.
- Do not pay for any processing fee, it’s the employer’s responsibility.
- If email id “Gmail or Hotmail” then double-check email id by searching online on the website and also by calling them directly to that particular organization whose name is used for example “PSO-HR@gmail.com in this scenario do ask PSO and validate the offer.
- Multinational organizations never send offers directly on an email unless they go through the proper recruitment process and further on their website “Scam alert or awareness” message is displayed.
- Always read carefully “Job description” before accepting offers.
