As part of Saudi Arabia’s comprehensive preparations for the upcoming Hajj season, the Transport General Authority (TGA) has launched early inspection operations at key entry points to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, as well as surrounding sacred sites.

More than 20 inspection locations have been activated, with TGA teams working around the clock to facilitate a safe and organized pilgrimage for the millions of worshippers expected to arrive in the Kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The teams are tasked with monitoring and supporting incoming pilgrim traffic, ensuring that licensed transport operators comply with regulations, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

According to the TGA, daily operations include verification of vehicle permits, operator licenses, and adherence to approved routes designated for the pilgrimage season. The authority has made it clear that unauthorized vehicles or drivers attempting to enter Hajj-regulated areas without proper clearance will face penalties.

Transport operators have also been instructed to ensure that drivers wear official uniforms and carry valid vehicle operating cards. These measures are part of broader efforts to streamline transportation logistics during Hajj and provide a secure and respectful environment for pilgrims.

The Transport General Authority emphasized that coordination with other government agencies is ongoing, reinforcing a unified approach to manage the annual influx of pilgrims. Officials stressed that the early deployment of inspection teams reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to ensuring a seamless travel experience during one of the world’s largest religious gatherings.

Members of the public, including pilgrims and residents, have been encouraged to report violations or submit inquiries through the authority’s unified contact number, 19929, or via its official Beneficiary Care account on social media platforms.

Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam, attracts over two million pilgrims each year. The Kingdom’s transport sector plays a critical role in maintaining order and safety during the ritual-filled days of the pilgrimage. This year, authorities aim to set a new benchmark in operational readiness and service excellence.
