Saudi Arabia highlighted its preparations and ambitions for hosting Riyadh Expo 2030 during a high-profile reception held in Osaka on Thursday. Organized in collaboration with the Kingdom’s Embassy in Japan, the event brought together over 200 local and international guests, including ambassadors and commissioners-general participating in Expo 2025 Osaka.
The reception aimed to showcase Saudi Arabia’s readiness to deliver a transformative World Expo and foster early engagement with the global community. Discussions centered around the main theme of Riyadh Expo 2030 — “The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow” — and its three subthemes: “Innovative Technologies,” “Sustainable Solutions,” and “Thriving Communities.”
Saudi Ambassador to Japan and Commissioner-General of the Saudi Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Dr. Ghazi Faisal Binzagr, opened the event. In his address, Binzagr praised the organizers of Expo 2025 and emphasized the significance of diplomatic cooperation in making global expos successful.
“It has been an honor to serve as commissioner-general of the Kingdom’s Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, where I’ve witnessed firsthand the vital role expos play in strengthening international ties and collaboration,” he said. “Tonight’s event provided a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and engage in meaningful dialogue with participants from across the globe.”
Abdulaziz Al-Ghannam, Commissioner-General of Riyadh Expo 2030, reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to delivering an inclusive and visionary expo.
“Our journey to host the expo in Riyadh has already begun, and we treat this as a national priority,” he said. “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia — its leadership and people — are fully prepared to welcome the world.”
He added that Riyadh Expo 2030 aims to be a global platform embracing diverse ideas and perspectives.
Thamer Al-Saadoun, Executive Vice President of Riyadh Expo 2030, spoke on the relevance of the expo’s themes to both global challenges and Saudi Arabia’s national agenda.
“‘The Era of Change’ invites the world to achieve real progress through visionary thinking, innovation, and collaboration,” Al-Saadoun said. “Our themes align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and are deeply rooted in Saudi Vision 2030, reflecting the Kingdom’s ongoing transformation.”
The event in Osaka is part of a broader diplomatic and cultural outreach effort by Saudi Arabia to build momentum for Riyadh Expo 2030, which is scheduled to run from October 1, 2030, to March 31, 2031. The expo will span 6 million square meters, positioning it as one of the largest in history.
