Saudi Arabia’s aid agency, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), has delivered thousands of cartons of dates to families in Syria and Yemen as part of the Kingdom’s ongoing humanitarian support to communities in need, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Wednesday.
According to the agency, 2,677 cartons were distributed to households in various regions of Syria, while an additional 3,120 cartons were delivered to beneficiaries in Yemen. The distribution aims to strengthen food security and provide nutritional support to vulnerable populations in the two conflict-affected countries.
The initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader humanitarian mission to assist communities facing ongoing hardship due to instability and displacement. KSrelief, which leads the Kingdom’s international aid efforts, has been active in Syria and Yemen for several years, providing food, medical supplies, and development assistance.
KSrelief officials noted that the delivery of dates — a staple food in the region known for its high nutritional value — plays a key role in addressing immediate hunger needs and contributing to local food security. The dates were distributed directly to families, with priority given to areas identified as having the highest levels of food insecurity.
“The Kingdom continues its commitment to easing the suffering of people around the world,” said an official from KSrelief. “This latest effort to distribute dates is a small but important part of our comprehensive support to the people of Syria and Yemen.”
Saudi Arabia’s aid contributions have spanned multiple sectors in both countries, including health care, sanitation, education, and shelter. In Yemen, where the humanitarian crisis remains among the most severe globally, KSrelief has implemented hundreds of aid projects, working closely with international and local partners.
In Syria, KSrelief has also provided consistent food and medical assistance, particularly to displaced persons and those living in remote areas with limited access to resources.
The agency has emphasized that these aid efforts are non-political and focused solely on humanitarian relief. In its statement, SPA reaffirmed that such initiatives are designed to promote regional stability and reflect Saudi Arabia’s longstanding commitment to supporting those affected by conflict and poverty.
As global humanitarian needs continue to rise, KSrelief has pledged to maintain and expand its outreach to communities in crisis, with further aid distributions expected in the coming weeks.
