NEOM has announced a major partnership with Asas Al-Muhaileb Company to establish a state-of-the-art factory complex for the production of ready-mix green concrete, with an investment of up to SR700 million. This ambitious project aims to support the construction of The Line, a revolutionary cognitive city being developed in NEOM.
The complex, currently under construction by Asas Al-Muhaileb, a leading Saudi construction and engineering company, will include several specialized factories. Once completed, the facility will have the capacity to produce over 20,000 cubic meters of ready-mix green concrete daily, playing a key role in advancing the sustainable building efforts of The Line.
Nadhmi Al-Nasr, CEO of NEOM, praised the new development as a significant milestone in NEOM’s ongoing progress. “The establishment of the concrete factories complex represents an achievement, adding to a series of other accomplishments that showcase the continuous progress in NEOM projects. It also underscores the leadership of Saudi Arabia’s construction sector and highlights the importance of local partnerships in executing this exceptional, sustainable project with high efficiency,” Al-Nasr said.
The advanced concrete plant will incorporate cutting-edge sustainability technologies, including carbon capture and utilization (CCU) systems and energy-saving solutions. These innovations will ensure the plant’s environmental footprint aligns with NEOM’s commitment to sustainability, and most of the concrete produced will be used to construct The Line.
Operations at the new complex are scheduled to begin next month, with full operational capacity expected by 2025. The project will also create more than 500 local jobs, boosting employment in the region.
The opening of the green concrete factory comes at a time when construction of The Line is moving forward rapidly. According to NEOM, about 1,000 out of more than 30,000 planned foundations for the futuristic city have already been completed.
The partnership between NEOM and Asas Al-Muhaileb reflects Saudi Arabia’s broader ambitions to promote sustainable development and bolster its construction industry. By leveraging local expertise and cutting-edge technology, the collaboration aims to set new standards for green building practices in the region, further solidifying NEOM’s role as a leader in global sustainability efforts.
