The General Directorate of Civil Defense has issued a public advisory urging citizens and residents to take precautions as heavy rains and adverse weather conditions are forecasted in several regions of Saudi Arabia. The warning comes as parts of the Kingdom are expected to face significant rainfall, with the risk of flash floods and other hazardous conditions from Friday through Tuesday.
In its statement, the Civil Defense urged people to avoid areas prone to flash floods, including valleys and low-lying regions, where water levels can rise rapidly. The public is also being strongly advised against swimming in these areas due to the potential dangers posed by fast-moving water. The Directorate emphasized the importance of following safety instructions and updates provided through official media channels.
The weather forecast indicates that several regions in the Kingdom will experience varying degrees of rainfall, accompanied by strong winds and, in some cases, hail. The Makkah region, in particular, is expected to be hit by dust-stirring winds, along with moderate to heavy rain, which could potentially lead to hailstorms. Similar weather patterns are anticipated in the Riyadh region, where moderate to heavy rainfall is likely.
In addition to Makkah and Riyadh, other regions such as the Eastern Province, Najran, Al-Baha, Aseer, and Jazan are expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall over the next few days. Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall is forecasted for regions including Madinah, the Northern Borders, Qassim, and Hail.
The Civil Defense has called on the public to remain vigilant and follow all safety measures during this period of unsettled weather. Residents in affected areas are urged to monitor local weather reports and heed any warnings issued by authorities. The public is also being reminded to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in areas at risk of flooding.
In the past, similar weather conditions have led to flash floods and road closures in various parts of the Kingdom. To minimize the risk to life and property, the Civil Defense is working closely with local authorities to ensure swift responses to any emergencies that may arise.
The National Center of Meteorology continues to monitor the weather situation closely and will provide regular updates to keep the public informed. Authorities are encouraging everyone to stay safe, remain indoors during severe weather, and avoid taking risks that could lead to dangerous situations.
