United Arab Emirates has repealed the law on boycotts of Israel in a presidential decree, following which diplomatic and economic ties between the UAE and Israel have been formally restored. According to the UAE’s official news agency WAM, the decree of the President of the UAE Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has confirmed the establishment of bilateral relations.
The presidential decree was issued at such a time Israel’s state-run airline EIA is preparing to launch direct flights from Tel Aviv to Abu Dhabi.
Its first flight will also bring a high-level Israeli delegation and advisers to US President Donald Trump, who played a role in the August 13 deal, to Abu Dhabi. But it is unclear whether the Israeli plane will be allowed to pass through Saudi airspace, which does not yet have diplomatic relations with Israel.
