Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, met Elon Musk, chief executive of X, SpaceX, Tesla and Starlink, reaffirming the UAE’s and Dubai’s vision to build technology partnerships aimed at advancing global development.
According to Dubai Media Office, the meeting focused on global technological transformations and explored ways to harness new solutions and applications to support comprehensive development for humanity. Discussions also highlighted a sustainable development vision intended to overcome challenges and shape a future defined by shared progress and prosperity.
The talks underscored the UAE’s and Dubai’s emergence as global destinations for technology and innovation. Key topics included legislative and regulatory frameworks, early adoption of emerging technologies, and incentives to attract specialised talent, all identified as crucial factors behind the country’s growing international reputation in technology and innovation.
Participants examined the role of advanced digital infrastructure in driving the UAE’s digital economy. Elements of Dubai’s and the UAE’s strategy to advance artificial intelligence and other future technologies were also reviewed, demonstrating a commitment to integrating cutting-edge solutions into national development plans.
Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the country’s continued efforts to foster innovation through legislative support, strategic partnerships, and investment in human capital. He noted that these initiatives are strengthening the UAE’s technology ecosystem, improving quality of life, and enhancing economic competitiveness while setting international benchmarks.
Elon Musk praised the UAE’s forward-looking vision, citing the country’s progress in technology, artificial intelligence, and space exploration. He expressed his hopes for continued advancement and prosperity for the UAE and its residents, reinforcing the significance of ongoing collaboration between Dubai and leading global technology firms.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications and deputy managing director of the Dubai Future Foundation, and Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.
