Hamas has strongly condemned U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent proposal to relocate Palestinians from Gaza to Jordan and Egypt, labeling the plan as an affront to Palestinian rights.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Hamas declared: “Our people, who have stood steadfast in the face of the most horrific acts of genocide in modern history perpetrated by the fascist Israeli occupation army, categorically reject any plans for their relocation or deportation from their land.”
The group urged the U.S. administration to abandon the proposal, accusing it of aligning with Israeli interests and disregarding the rights and will of the Palestinian people.
Hamas further called on the U.S. to support the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital and to pressure Israel to accelerate efforts to rebuild Gaza, which has suffered extensive destruction during recent conflicts.
Arab Nations Urged to Stand Firm
Hamas also appealed to neighboring Arab and Islamic nations, particularly Jordan and Egypt, to reaffirm their opposition to resettlement and deportation plans. The group emphasized the need for these countries to provide comprehensive support to the Palestinian people during this critical time.
The statement came in response to Trump’s remarks on Saturday, in which he described Gaza as a “demolition site” and proposed relocating its residents to neighboring countries. His comments have drawn widespread criticism from Palestinian factions and rights advocates.
Continued Struggles in Gaza
The Gaza Strip has faced repeated devastation due to ongoing conflicts, leaving its infrastructure in shambles and its residents grappling with dire living conditions. Hamas has insisted that any international efforts should focus on reconstruction and restoring normalcy in the region, rather than uprooting its population.
The proposal has sparked outrage among Palestinians and their supporters, with critics arguing that it undermines the right of Palestinians to self-determination and their historic connection to the land.
As tensions persist, the international community is being called upon to uphold Palestinian rights and seek sustainable solutions to the decades-long conflict.
