Foggy Start Expected in Some Areas, with Relatively Hot Weather Later, Says Meteorology Department

Residents can expect misty and foggy conditions early in the day, followed by relatively hot weather later, according to the Department of Meteorology’s daily weather report. The forecast, which covers inshore weather until 6:00 pm on Monday, warns of reduced visibility in some areas during the morning hours.

The department specifically cautioned drivers and residents about poor horizontal visibility in certain locations due to early fog. Visibility could drop to as low as 2 kilometers in some areas before gradually improving as the day progresses. After the fog clears, conditions are expected to become relatively hot, with some clouds appearing in the sky.

Offshore, the weather is predicted to be hazy at times, though no significant disruptions are anticipated for those working or traveling by sea.

Winds and Sea Conditions

Wind conditions inshore are expected to vary throughout the day. Winds will be light and variable early in the morning but will shift to northeasterly to northwesterly later, with speeds ranging from 5 to 15 knots (KT). Offshore, the wind will also be variable initially but will shift to a northwesterly to northeasterly direction, with wind speeds between 3 to 13 KT.

Sea conditions are forecasted to be calm both inshore and offshore. The sea state inshore is expected to range between 1 to 2 feet, while offshore, wave heights will vary between 1 and 3 feet, making it generally safe for marine activities.

Visibility Outlook

The fog and mist early in the day are expected to cause a significant drop in visibility in some areas, with inshore visibility ranging from 4 to 9 kilometers under normal conditions but potentially falling to 2 kilometers or less in foggy areas. Offshore, visibility will be slightly better, ranging from 4 to 10 kilometers throughout the day.

Residents are urged to exercise caution, especially during the early morning hours when driving conditions may be hazardous due to low visibility.

As temperatures rise later in the day, the fog is expected to dissipate, leaving behind a relatively warm day with some cloud cover. The department has not issued any further warnings, but advises the public to stay updated on changing weather conditions.
