Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that Dubai Metro services will operate on extended hours on Sunday, February 1, to accommodate runners and spectators attending the Dubai Marathon 2026. Metro services will begin at 5am and continue until midnight, compared to the usual Sunday schedule, which starts at 8am.
The extended operating hours aim to provide smoother transport access for the thousands expected to take part in or attend one of the region’s largest annual sporting events. The marathon, along with shorter races, will attract both professional athletes and recreational participants from across the UAE and abroad.
The marathon will start on Abdullah Omran Taryam Street, while the 10km Road Race and the 4km Fun Run will begin on King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street. All races will conclude at the parade ground of the Dubai Police Academy. Organisers have emphasised that each race has its own designated start point and participants should enter only their assigned area. Official route maps provide detailed guidance for all attendees.
The marathon course is noted for being flat and fast, with well-maintained road surfaces throughout. Hydration stations supplied by Bisleri will be available every 5km from the 5km to 40km points, with additional water points positioned midway between each main station. Vitamin Well refreshments will also be provided at the 10km, 15km, 20km, 25km, and 30km marks. Medical stations will be positioned approximately 200 metres after each 5km point, and toilet facilities will be available along the route at 5km intervals.
Event organisers have advised visitors and residents unfamiliar with the area to use taxis to reach the race start lines. Recommended drop-off points include Al Wasl Road before the turn toward the Dubai Police Academy, or the Mall of the Emirates area, followed by a short walk to the venue entrance.
Participants travelling by private vehicle are warned of extensive road closures in the area starting at 1am on race day. Drivers are advised to park at a reasonable walking distance from the course and arrive early to avoid congestion. No parking will be available at the Dubai Police Academy itself.
The RTA’s extended metro hours and the detailed logistical support for participants reflect the city’s commitment to hosting a safe and smoothly run sporting event. With thousands of runners and spectators expected, organisers and authorities are encouraging everyone to plan their journeys in advance to ensure timely arrival and participation in the 2026 Dubai Marathon.
