China-US tensions, US decision to close Chinese consulate in Houston, China threatens retaliation

United States has asked China to close its consulate in Houston, Texas. The United States has said it was provoked by Chinese political action.

The State Department says the decision is aimed at “protecting US intellectual property.”

However, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenben called the decision “outrageous and unjustified.”
