Amazon UAE has unveiled a new recycling initiative designed to make it easier for customers across Dubai to recycle packaging materials from their Amazon.ae deliveries. The programme, launched in partnership with Enviroserve — a recycling firm certified by Dubai Municipality and the Ministry of Environment — establishes over 150 recycling drop-off points throughout the city.
The initiative forms part of Amazon’s wider commitment to sustainability and aligns with the UAE’s Green Agenda 2030, which aims to promote responsible consumption and support the transition to a circular economy. It also contributes to Amazon’s global Climate Pledge to achieve net-zero carbon emissions across its operations by 2040.
Under the new scheme, customers can recycle a range of packaging materials including cardboard boxes, plastic mailers, bubble-lined envelopes, and packing paper. Drop-off stations have been strategically installed in residential and commercial areas, as well as in community villa and townhouse developments, to ensure easy access for households and businesses.
Each Amazon.ae delivery package now features a QR code that customers can scan to locate the nearest drop-off point. The code directs users to the Amazon Second Chance page — a dedicated online platform offering detailed recycling guidance, information on electronic waste disposal, and instructions for end-of-life product management.
Prashant Saran, Director of Operations for Amazon Middle East, Africa, and Turkey, said the initiative marks a key step in advancing sustainability efforts across the UAE. “This programme makes it easier for customers to recycle packaging while supporting the UAE’s sustainability goals,” he said. “By pioneering this service, we are creating the infrastructure needed for more responsible consumer practices. Working with Enviroserve allows us to efficiently process recycled materials, diverting waste from landfills and keeping valuable resources in use.”
Enviroserve’s Managing Director and Board Member, Shashidhar Y.S., echoed the sentiment, highlighting the importance of collaboration in achieving environmental goals. “Partnering with Amazon enables us to make recycling more accessible to communities while contributing to the UAE’s Green Agenda 2030,” he said. “Responsible collection and processing of packaging materials help keep resources in circulation and reduce landfill waste.”
The initiative complements Amazon’s broader sustainability measures, including the use of advanced machine learning models to reduce excess packaging and its “Ships in Product Packaging” programme, which eliminates the need for additional delivery boxes.
By expanding its recycling infrastructure and partnering with certified recyclers, Amazon UAE aims to strengthen responsible waste management practices and reinforce its long-term commitment to environmental sustainability across the region.
