The best successor for the best predecessor
Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed was born on 7 September 1948 to a well-established family in the city of Al Ain. He was the son of a nobleman and a true leader no doubt is a delightful destiny. He completed his early education at the city school in AI Ain and graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He was a sound-minded and visionary; in other words, the best successor for the best predecessor. Allah bestowed on his generosity, strong beliefs, and the courage to establish justice. He prepared himself to do the great works of his predecessors and hoped to improve on their achievements.Â
Early Destiny with Responsibility
Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan was near to his father when he was the Representative of a ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in Al Ain city and the Eastern Area previously.Â
Sheikh Zayed was 21 years old when appointed as the crown prince. The Al Nahyan family warmly welcomed this appointment because they all know his good qualities and characteristics. The most important thing that he learned from his father is that he is patient, tolerant, and takes things slowly to avoid problems.
In 1969 when he became the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, the steps to establish the federal being of the United Arab Emirates started to improve. Sheikh Zayed led these steps. He was deeply involved in building the federal state.Â
On 2 February 1969, he started with Defence Department in Abu Dhabi, and on 1 July 1971, he became Prime Minister of Abu Dhabi in addition to leading the Defence and Finance departments.
The federal-state
With the formation of the Union state on 2 December 1971 and independence, the work of H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan increased when he was appointed the Federal Deputy Prime Minister.
He became the chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive council in 1974. He initiated major improvements and transformed Abu Dhabi into a modern city.
In 1976 he established the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority.
In 1976 he became the Deputy supreme commander of the UAE army forces.
In 1981 he established the Abu Dhabi Department of social services.
In 1991 he created the private loans Authority.
In November 2004, after the death of his father. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan was elected president on 3 November 2004. His father had served as the president from 1971 to 2004. He focused on the oil and gas sector on development. In addition, he was interested in sports, particularly football.
He was re-elected as the president in 2009. He succeeded the improving the country’s growth.
He launched several successful projects, including Khalifa Excellence Award, Khalifa Award for education, the Debt settlement Fund, and the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.
He died on 13 May 2022.
