Real essence of marketing and concept of digital marketing

Marketing, yeah it is known terminology, the concept of marketing is not new, for years people are marketing their stuff in order to sell them, their talent, skills, products, credentials, profiles and many things in order to present them in the market and get them sold. 

We hear this term “Marketing” everywhere, in colleges, schools, and incorporate environments, people often mix this term with advertising and sales as well. Marketing is the whole buyer’s journey to identify customer’s needs and wants and identify ways how to meet those. On contrary, advertisement is to promote products or services to that audience through proper channels, advertising is a basic element of marketing.

Selling is the process of converting products and services into money, after marketing and advertising there come a selling role. Now digital marketing is one of the advertisement processes through which all digital channels are utilized to promote products and services which include social media platforms and also professional platforms.

What happens in the real corporate world, people have lack awareness about digital marketing and they mix conventional marketing with digital marketing. Digital marketing’s role is limited to only social media and virtual marketing, now comes the role of actual and conventional marketing which is telemarketing, billboards, networking and all.

People think digital marketing is exactly a gateway as e-commerce is to promote online trading and business, however, digital marketing is something different that is promoting stuff through online applications, social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok, Linked In, and any other website where people have maximum views also setting marketing trends which are email marketing, utilizing artificial intelligence and highlight best ways to approach customers and get them.  

There are thousands of home industries and proper corporate set-ups who are promoting e-commerce via digital marketing and can interlink their websites, official platforms like Amazon, E-bay, Ali express with all social media platforms. 

Pakistan is one of the Asian countries which promoted digital marketing in cooperation with Gulf countries and also showed a way how ecommerce platforms work with digital marketing model. Digital marketing if utilized in the proper way can take up any company to the next level by reading customers behaviors, their personalized needs, and customized digital marketing strategies according to customer’s needs and demands. In the absence of a true understanding of customer’s needs and demands, it’s very unlikely to utilize digital marketing and promote products and services.
