The State of Qatar took part in the fifth annual ministerial meeting of the Group of Friends of Victims of Terrorism, held on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The meeting, which brought together international representatives, focused on supporting victims and survivors of terrorism.
Representing Qatar at the meeting was His Excellency (HE) Faisal bin Abdullah Al Hanzab, the Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. During his address, Al Hanzab highlighted Qatar’s strong commitment to supporting victims of terrorism and emphasized the importance of recovery and community resilience as integral components of a comprehensive approach to aiding survivors.
“Qatar recognizes the significance of fostering resilience within communities and helping victims recover from the impact of terrorism,” HE Al Hanzab said. He underscored the importance of global cooperation in this endeavor, affirming that Qatar is fully dedicated to working with international partners to enhance efforts to support victims.
HE Al Hanzab also reaffirmed Qatar’s continued commitment to working alongside other members of the Group of Friends of Victims of Terrorism. He noted that this includes not only supporting victims but also contributing to the implementation and follow-up of relevant United Nations resolutions on combating terrorism and addressing the needs of its victims.
The Group of Friends of Victims of Terrorism was established to amplify the voices of survivors and to strengthen international efforts aimed at preventing terrorism. Qatar’s participation in this annual ministerial meeting reinforces its active role in global counterterrorism initiatives and its focus on humanitarian support for affected individuals and communities.
The meeting was part of a broader effort by UN member states to promote global peace and security while ensuring that victims of terrorism receive the necessary support and resources to rebuild their lives. Through this international collaboration, Qatar remains a key player in advancing these objectives and reinforcing the importance of victim-centered approaches in the fight against terrorism.
