At least 22 Palestinians were killed and many others injured during a series of overnight Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip, marking another deadly escalation in the conflict that has now entered its 321st day as of Thursday.
In the northern Gaza town of Beit Lahia, an Israeli airstrike targeted a residential home, killing 11 Palestinians, most of whom were women and children, according to medical sources cited by Anadolu Agency. The devastation continued as three more people lost their lives in another airstrike on a house in the Jabalia refugee camp.
The central Gaza Strip also witnessed heavy bombardment, with an Israeli strike on a home in the al-Maghazi refugee camp resulting in the deaths of six Palestinians, including three children. Four others were reported injured in the attack. In Khan Younis, a southern city in Gaza, a mother and her child were killed when their home was hit by yet another airstrike.
These latest casualties come amid an ongoing Israeli military offensive that began in response to an attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023. The conflict has so far claimed the lives of over 40,200 Palestinians, the majority of whom were women and children, according to local health authorities. Additionally, nearly 93,000 others have been injured as the violence continues to rage.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire, with large portions of the territory reduced to rubble. The severe blockade imposed by Israel has left residents without adequate access to essential supplies, including food, clean water, and medical care. The relentless airstrikes and ground operations have drawn international condemnation, with accusations of genocide being leveled against Israel at the International Court of Justice.
As the conflict drags on with no resolution in sight, the people of Gaza continue to bear the brunt of the violence, suffering devastating losses in one of the most protracted and destructive confrontations in the region’s recent history.
