Though science has come up with various kinds of accessories to keep people safe and secure, humans are still a threat to themselves. But people love to keep pets, either dogs or cats or something else, and the creature becomes a part of the family very soon, and an understanding between the family members and the pet gets established. Dogs, commonly known as dedicated to their masters, will give their lives to saving their masters. The master also has to take responsibility for his/her pet dog.
What is this all about?
Using the latest technologies, the experts have come up with some safety measures for the creatures who cannot share their pain with words. The above-ground electric dog fence system is one such product that keeps the dog within the boundary or yard of the master. This ensures the dog will be safe from any kind of potential harm from outside the house or the house’s yard.
An electric dog fence works with the collar at the dog’s neck as it offers the correction of very low voltage to the dog when it tries to cross the boundary. The level of tickle can be controlled and customized as per the intensity and power of the dog. It mainly varies depending on the species of the dog you keep as your pet in your home. But it gets the imperceptible correctness and stays within the boundary fulfilling the purpose of the machine well.
Is there something new?
In general and most commonly, the fences used to keep the dogs and pets within the ground of the master’s house are underground. The dogs can’t see them, and so the wires remain unharmed by them too. But now, you can have an above ground electric dog fence too. It is easy and less time-consuming to install the above-ground fence, but you have to be careful.
The fence specially designed for above-ground use has a wire at the boundaries that can be stapled with the boundary line or fencing of the yard. If there is no fence as such, you can place it on the ground simply. People with a decorative fence around their house or low fencing yards can have benefited from this particular system.
How to install the above-ground electric fence?
Like every other electric system, this above-ground electric dog fence has a specific system to get it installed anytime and anyplace for keeping your pet restricted within the boundaries or safety wall. You need to follow the four steps mentioned below to make the fence ready within a short span.
Step-1
The fence should be close to the fence and an electric connection to make it work. You also have to keep in mind that the above-ground one will be exposed to different weather all year. So, choose a place that at least works as some shade to the fence. If you have a garage or a shaded porch with an electric connection, it may work well for the fence as well as the pet. You are ready with the placement of the system at the end of this stage.
Step- 2
The fence is already invisible, but you need to layout the boundary fence to use the electric fence, and the starting and ending point of the long boundary loop must be connected to the electric source. If you try to keep one or two points for the dog to enter the yard safely from the other side, you have to ensure that you have twisted that particular portion at least eight times. This will ensure a safe path entrance for your pet into the fenced garden or yard.
Step-3
For starting the system, you need to plug the above ground electric dog fence into the transmitter. If you are not confident about the system and how the correctness will affect the pet, you can try the collar at your hand to sense the tickle set to a standard degree. Before that, you must be sure that you have read the complete user’s manual and used all the products correctly in the collar to work in the desired process.
Step-4
Check the system well before stapling the wire to the boundary fence and do the necessary changes as and how required. If you are confident that the system is working, you will wish to connect the wire to the existing fence made of wood or other material. Use a carpenter’s kneel or another strong mechanism to staple the wire into the boundary for a secured setup.
Precautions
You have to be very careful in using the above ground electric dog fence. The fences used for keeping the pets safe within the house yards can work above ground in any way. But the question remains with durability. You won’t like to buy multiple same products in a year for your dog’s safety.
The light-gauge wires used in the electric fences get damaged if not buried. The wires are the main component in this system, and if these are damaged, the system will not work in the desired way. The power supply through the wire can get broken if not buried under the land.
But if you are confident about keeping the wire safe and durable while keeping them abroad, you can do that with a lot of care. If you use copper wire instead of light-gauge ones, the system can work above ground without any commotion. Moreover, installing the system is easy, and you can do it yourself and save some money for your pet care.
The electric fences are flexible, so you can carry them to any place you are going to. This will help you carry the pet with you and install the system within an hour. This will make you keep the dog along with you, and it will be safe from any kind of threats.
