Dubai Health has launched a new ‘Unified Health Screening’ initiative that combines medical fitness tests for residency and occupational health requirements into a single digital application, marking a major step in the emirate’s drive to improve government services.
Developed in coordination with the Dubai Health Authority, the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs–Dubai, Dubai Municipality, the Supreme Legislation Committee and the Department of Finance, the initiative introduces a single customer journey for health-related clearances. The project falls under the ‘City Makers’ programme led by the General Secretariat of The Executive Council of Dubai and aligns with the goals of Dubai’s Social Agenda 33 and the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33.
Under the new system, professionals across sectors can apply for required screenings through a smart digital platform that integrates medical fitness examinations and occupational health checks into one automated process. The application is tailored to the applicant’s profession, ensuring that only relevant tests are conducted.
All required examinations can now be completed in a single visit. Once results are finalised, residency permits are issued automatically, eliminating repeated steps and reducing waiting times. The service links databases across participating entities, allowing secure and accurate data exchange.
Dr Alawi Alsheikh-Ali, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, said the initiative reflects Dubai’s commitment to unified digital governance. He noted that the service standardises procedures and accelerates data exchange, supporting preventive planning as the population and economy continue to grow.
Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs–Dubai, said the service demonstrates the emirate’s integrated government model. He explained that linking databases enables automated and secure information sharing, helping speed up residency issuance once requirements are met.
Eng Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, described the initiative as a strategic enhancement to inspection and regulatory systems. He said the unified process allows inspection teams to access real-time information, improving compliance with occupational health and safety standards and strengthening emergency preparedness.
Dr Amer Sharif, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Health and President of Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, said the initiative strengthens healthcare system readiness and improves service quality. He added that the programme supports Dubai’s ambition to provide smart and proactive services.
The service will initially be available at several Dubai Health medical fitness centres, including Garhoud, Al Nahda, Al Karama, Al Yalayis, Bur Dubai, Jebel Ali Free Zone, Zabeel and Smart Salem centres. Authorities plan to expand capacity and add more locations in the next phase to meet demand.
The City Makers programme, launched in 2014 by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aims to enhance cooperation among government entities and deliver shared services through coordinated efforts.
