Being Drug Tested for a Job Interview? Here’s What to Expect

It is likely that at some point in your life, you will be drug tested. Many companies do regular tests, for example, as part of the job interview process. You will need to pass a drug test to go into the military as well.

For many, this test could be a gloomy cloud over a job opportunity, so these tests are often looked at as life-altering. You either pass the test and get the job, or you fail the test and do not get the job.

Job Interview

This can seem daunting, especially if you are unsure if you will pass the drug test. However, with the knowledge of what will happen in your testing room and these tips from a new guide from THC Detox, you will be able to walk in and out of the testing room with confidence.

Different Kinds of Testing

Urinalysis

Urinalysis is the most common way of testing. This method is used about 75% of the time, and it involves you in providing a sample of your own urine during the screening.

You will be asked to take all your personal items out of your pockets and leave your belongings in another room.

You will be asked to go into a bathroom where you will give the sample. In some instances, there will be someone to supervise you to the bathroom to ensure that you are following the rules, but you will still have privacy.

This type of sample is the most common, and it is also one of the simplest.

Hair Drug Testing

Hair Drug Tests are used only 24% of the time. This test involves a technician taking between one hundred and one hundred and twenty strands of hair to test. The hair is collected and wrapped in foil for testing.

Have no fear, though, because to prevent from creating bald spots the take from different sections of your hair. If you are already bald, however, they will take hair from elsewhere.

Saliva Testing

Saliva is rarely used as a test. This process involves using a cotton swab to swipe the mouth and detect any presence of marijuana.

This method is not used often because it is not as accurate, and it is much easier to manipulate. However, it is often used as a roadside test.

Blood Tests

Blood Tests are very accurate but rarely used. This process involves taking blood from the vein in the back of the hand or the arm with a needle.

Although these tests are highly accurate, they are also very expensive, which is why they are also not commonly used.

Factors That Influence Your Results

Many people being drug tested worry about whether or not their recreational activities will show up on the results. Some things to keep in mind are:

  • What drugs—if any—you are using, as some drugs take longer to leave the system than others
  • How often you use drugs because the more you use them, the higher your chances of a positive test result
  • Your total body fat because your fat cells are where THC lingers the longest
  • The rate of your metabolism, as the faster your metabolism, the faster the drug leaves your system

Whatever the reason for your drug test, whether you are going into the military, a job interview, or your parents want to see what you have been up to, the most important thing to remember is not to panic.

If you are someone who is unsure whether you will pass a drug test, just make sure that you remember the procedure that you will be going through and use the guide from THC detox to find out some natural remedies that will allow you to pass your test with flying colors.

“Do you only need to get clean for an interview or do you have a drug problem? If you are stuck in the clutches of addiction, consider visiting a Chandler rehabilitation center. They are ready and willing to help you overcome your substance abuse.
