The new Duo Kio From Colombia And Sadcat From UAE. Catching up with the duo as they sit comfy in their new studio, we took time to explore the studio set-up and listen the new songs that are coming in the next few weeks.
How did you guys get into production and hip hop music?
Kio“Music has been in my life since I was a child, I was so passionate about music, I started as a Dj of singers then I move to make my own beat to them. When my reggaeton beats started to get better, I got signed to a Colombian label and started to work with bigger artists. I have worked with quite a few famous Colombian singers in the past.”
SadCat: “ I fall on love with music when I was a kid waiting for the song on the radio so I can record it on a cassette tape, music was a passion to me so I decided to take it professional by showing love to the music and adding some tase to the world I made my own music Arabic hip hop in 2004 that music use to be so popular in UAE especially for the young generation in the UAE ”
Do you remember your first gig where do you play one of your tracks?
SadCat: “ My first gig as a teen had was a prom party after school then for an adult party I fly to Ethiopia and had to be the DJ for artist Skales performing for 6000 people at NYE”
Kio: “oh yes, it was in Bogota in front of 20.000 people with Karol G doing the warm-up of Daddy Yankee. I think it’s one the most special moment in my career .”
What’s a typical day in the studio like for you?
SadCat: ” My day will be a normal day like every person I would wake up and start my computer do some beats and share it with some friends so they can perform on it”
Kio: “I wake up. Drink coffee. And then I open FL studio. It’s like a morning ritual. I just produce all day, and I love it. And the day after, exactly the same. It’s been the same since 2008 when it comes to me working in the studio.”
How do you start a track?
SadCat: “I start with the piano sound to find the best tone I feel it much the taste then slowly move to the drums until I find the perfect track”
Kio : “I always start with the drums. Then when they’re done, I always look for a special sound that nobody has used before. ”
What software are you using for producing?
Sad Cat: “ Nuendo, Cubase, MPC, whatever match my requirements for the song”
Kio: “Fl Studio, Nuendo, Protools I like to try all when I’m making a song.”
What can we expect in the next album from you guys?
Sad Cat: “ we are working so hard in the studio and try to make music for all tastes from the kids to different generation it has to be something unique and different at the same time”
Kio: “It will be done soon, and is going to be different because We have Featurings Artist from Colombian and UAE, Arabic and Latin mixes, different colors and crazy fusion beats from Latino to Arabic ”
Who came up with the idea of fusion Latin and Arabic?
SadCat: “Both”
Kio: “yes, We had the idea since last year now we are finishing all the songs”
