After 8 successful years of excellent performances and a glorious show, Game of Thrones disappointed its innumerable fan-following in the last episode. Unexpected things have always been a tradition in the show but everyone was expecting some good things for surviving but everything goes into the drain after the death of a magnificent show. The last episode of the season not only wrap up long years of amazing performances but ruined the emotional investment of its massive audience across the world who were not expecting this at day end.
The more critical fact is that millions of fans signed a petition to remake the last episode after the mediocre 8th season. Immediately after the dragon attack at king’s Landing even after the bell, the fire burned the whole city into ashes, still, it has hope, everything will be fine in the last episode. The song, Fire and Ice which was presented by Samwell proved sleazy in GOT although it was picturized in Titanic but not with such tormenting climax.
Comparatively, season 8 has shown horrifying devastation without any farewell touch which was expected in the climax. Bran the broken became king for a world which he never desired and memes also exposed this particular twist but before that, a peaceful presentation was inevitable with mercy. The death of the Iron Throne by the fire take it too far for which everyone was striving but it came to Starks who never wished for it.
Arya Stark who stole the whole season this year also did not find green eyes as foreseen earlier and then overlooked. She became an explorer like the Great Dora and if the season continues then we will definitely see the wonders of this merciless killer.
Sansa, after all the hard tragedies of her life, became the queen in North as she insisted to have North as an independent state and everybody accept its sovereignty. Jon Snow who have been doing heroic things even after the killing of last tyrant, Danyerous, has become a favorite ghost after Unsullied arrested him off the camera. As he did not does anything significant in the whole season but one wrong thing only, the murder of Daneryus.
All the feeding-fans have already concluded the last episode in a complicated manner on the basis of the previous season rather than showrunners’ anticipation. And what they actually want is a happy ending from the blister of King’s Landing. Beyond the sharp brutality in this season, Daneyrous Death was quite an odd and unforgiven fact and it seems everything is done now and nothing more to watch in the finale episode. However, it is also a great source of relief that many favorite characters did not die with fire or turn into a lethal dictator with massacre instinct. The enmity we have seen in 8 years of GOT did not felt this time. I as the viewer have been waiting for a twisting moment which will change the history with a happy ending but Alas! It never came.
Hence, like others, I also have some questions such as how Dothraki can listen Daenerys from so far when she was giving her first victory speech about breaking the wheel? Was tyrion maintained that position to advise everyone how to choose a new king being a prisoner in the presence of Grey Worm who wants to kill him for his nonsense? Where the mighty Dragon went? Why not we hear any word for him? Showmakers Benioff and Weiss should have come this time too to explain these questions in the last 30 minutes of the episode as they have been doing in last episodes.
Game of Throne has always been missed as infuriating and delighting show in the history of any drama series and its finale as well. The charm of show has become enormous and discussed around but the fact that decisions and developments in last season were not detailed by its makers and seems unpicked and arguable. Foremost the Iron Throne for which everyone strived but eventually, it melted like nothing important. Altogether, the finale episode is not enough to reward all the great characters but what we learned is one lesson that mercy is just the name of the game.
