Dr. May Khalfan, Assistant Professor, Department of Architecture and Interior Design, The College of Engineering at the University of Bahrain, describes the project architectural elements of Onyx Bahrain Bay Project: “The curvilinear layout of the building enforces the options of maximizing the views and creates a unique outline for the building
Commenting on the project Architectural design Dr. May Khalfan, Assistant Professor, Department of Architecture and Interior Design, The College of Engineering at the University of Bahraindescribes the project architectural elements: “The language used in Onyx Bahrain Bay blends well with the surrounding context. The fully glazed façade offers a strong connection with the views of the site from all directions. Additionally, the curvilinear layout of the building enforces the options of maximizing the views and creates a unique outline for the building. The renders also show a transformation of the building by night and day, through the selection of the material and lighting system, the building facade standout and vibrantly glow at night. This definitely adds uniqueness to the building.
As for the design of the outdoor spaces, considering our extreme environment, pockets of green and shading areas elevate the microclimate conditions creating a more pleasant experience outdoors. This was evident through the multiple outdoor spaces where shading elements and multiple green pockets were added to the outdoor spaces. In addition to the elegantly designed by the architects an indoor garden space with over 600 sqm for residents to enjoy nature all year round that features a glass skylight rooftop providing natural light.
The chosen name for the tower “Onyx” is highly represented by the finishes used for the interior offering a modern and luxurious experience for the users. Additionally, a color scheme, with neutral and earthy colors was applied in the whole design, creating interiors that are harmonious and rhythmic. The combination of fabric, metal, shiny, and matt finishes added elegance and contrast to the spaces. Furthermore, hidden lights in addition to the various types of lighting systems used provide the level of lighting and added a relaxed feel to the rooms. The renders represent all of the above-mentioned observations in an attractive and well-presented manner.
The project is a complete package for its residents, in terms of the facilities and the level of luxury living offered, not to add an excellent location situated centrally in Bahrain. Added Dr. May Khalfan.
