The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) held its first orientation meeting for scholarship students set to study in Education City, the United States, and Canadian universities for the 2024-2025 academic year. The event aimed to equip students with the essential knowledge and guidance they need during their scholarship period.
The orientation featured a panel discussion where Dr. Harib Mohamed Al Jabri, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education Affairs at MoEHE, emphasized the importance of students understanding the conditions and regulations governing their scholarships. He urged students to strive for academic excellence, engage in in-depth study within their chosen fields, manage their time effectively, and use their free time to acquire skills that would benefit them in the job market.
Dr. Al Jabri also highlighted that the MoEHE’s Scholarships Department covers the costs of training courses for students during their scholarship period, provided that each student enrolls in only one course per year. This support, he noted, is designed to enhance students’ expertise and improve their employability in their areas of academic specialization.
In her opening remarks, Noura Al Ansari, Acting Director of the Scholarships Department at MoEHE, described the orientation meeting as an opportunity to establish communication channels with scholarship students and provide them with the necessary support. She underscored that the success and achievements of students are integral to the success of MoEHE, motivating students to pursue knowledge with the aim of serving their country and contributing to Qatar’s National Vision 2030.
Ivan David, Head of Public Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Qatar, provided a comprehensive overview of what students can expect when traveling to America for their studies. He discussed the process of adapting to university life, the student support services available, and offered practical tips for navigating the scholarship period.
Salama Al Kuwari from the Scholarships Department reviewed the procedures for activating scholarships, including the requirement for students to read and sign the scholarship contract. Additionally, Aisha Al Mohannadi, Senior Scholarship Expert at the Government Scholarship Program at Education City, delivered a presentation on the financial privileges of both the Internal and External Scholarship Programs, detailing the financial regulations that govern these programs.
The meeting served as a crucial step in preparing the students for their academic journeys, ensuring they are well-informed and ready to make the most of their scholarship opportunities.
