Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – At the 41st Saudi Agriculture trade show, the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) officially launched its Center of Excellence for Sustainable Food Security, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of sustainable agriculture. This new center aims to tackle pressing food security challenges through research, innovation, and partnerships.
KAUST President Professor Sir Edward Byrne AC, along with Professors Mark Tester and Salim Al-Babili, introduced the center’s mission to the attendees. They emphasized KAUST’s commitment to Saudi Arabia’s vision of sustainable development as outlined in Saudi Vision 2030. The Center of Excellence will focus on advancing sustainable food production techniques that leverage scientific research and collaborative efforts, aiming to position Saudi Arabia as a leader in food security and sustainable agriculture.
“We are excited to unveil this center as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainable development and food security,” said Professor Byrne. “Through strategic research and collaboration, we aim to create lasting solutions to regional and global agricultural challenges.”
The center’s goals align with Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to establish Saudi Arabia as a global model in agricultural resilience and sustainability.
