It is notoriously difficult to get a chance for job in the academia. The probability to aspire professionals is especially bad who did not get their PhD degree from few universities; research has been found by a new study, which is published in journal science advances.
Researchers at the university of Colorado and Harvard, boulder looked for the full-time faculty staff in business and history departments in US colleges and for faculty of computer science in Canada and US from 2011 to 2013, Aaron clauset, a co-author tells quartz. They noticed that where professors have gotten their PhDs and have made a rank system for most influential schools in every subject, on the basis of success for finding jobs by their graduates.
Generally, they found institutions which account for almost three fourth faculty of tenure-track. For example, almost eighteen universities provide half professors of computer science of Canada and US; half of the business professors of US are being produced by 16 universities and half of the history professors produced by eight universities. They chose these fields to have a range of professors from scientific field to humanities and show that exclusive institutes get dominance across board, said by clauset. Below is listed ranking of schools that’s graduated deemed to be more desirable for faculty posts in different fields? Desirability based on technique which includes a range of institutes that are interested to hire graduates of that university.
The chances of getting admission in PhD program in this school are low. Stanford business school gets 731 applications for PhD program and enrolled 25 people. It is true that better job candidates are being attracted by these schools just due to their academic restriction, narrow pipeline hinder innovation in these fields, said by clause.
“This is independent of whether the ideas are good or not,” clause said. “These are structural factors that shape the success of ideas.”
