Saudi Arabia is taking bold steps to lead the global shift toward smart manufacturing by launching a comprehensive national strategy to accelerate the adoption of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies. The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has unveiled the Advanced Manufacturing and Production Center, a key initiative aimed at transforming the Kingdom’s industrial sector through cutting-edge solutions such as automation, artificial intelligence, robotics, and data-driven systems.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Center serves as a unified national platform bringing together various programs designed to support the digital transformation of the manufacturing sector. It will facilitate the adoption of modern technologies that enhance production efficiency, reduce operational costs, and elevate the global competitiveness of Saudi-made products.
The new center reflects the broader goals of Vision 2030 and the National Industrial Strategy, which aim to position the Kingdom as a global industrial hub and a key player in international supply chains.
Key programs under the Advanced Manufacturing and Production Center include the Future Factories Program, the Industrial Beacons Program, the Accelerated Manufacturing Program, the Capability Centers Network, and the Operational Excellence Program. These initiatives aim to equip local manufacturers with the tools and knowledge needed to transition to smart production methods.
The Future Factories initiative, first launched in 2022, targets the automation of 4,000 factories across the Kingdom. It offers support in the form of financing, consulting services, and workforce development to promote advanced manufacturing techniques and reduce reliance on unskilled labor.
Meanwhile, the Industrial Beacons Program seeks to enable leading Saudi factories to integrate advanced technologies and gain recognition from the Global Lighthouse Network, a World Economic Forum initiative that highlights pioneers in smart manufacturing. Ten national industrial companies have already committed to meeting the program’s standards.
In partnership with local and global leaders in technology and innovation, the Center also provides advisory services, experiential learning, and resources to help factories assess their technological maturity and implement transformation plans involving AI, the Internet of Things, and big data analytics.
By launching this ambitious initiative, Saudi Arabia is signaling a clear intent: not just to adapt to the changing industrial landscape, but to lead it. With its integrated approach and strategic vision, the Kingdom is positioning itself at the forefront of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
