The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has intensified its food distribution efforts, providing thousands of food packages to some of the world’s most vulnerable populations, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.
As part of the Etaam Ramadan project, KSrelief delivered essential food aid to several countries, including Syria, Yemen, Somalia, and Sudan. In Syria, the agency distributed 389 food packages to families in need in Homs governorate and an additional 160 parcels in Al-Dumayr, Rif Dimashq governorate. The aid aims to support struggling communities facing ongoing humanitarian crises.
In Yemen, where food insecurity remains a significant concern, KSrelief provided 594 food baskets to vulnerable groups in Shabwah governorate. This assistance benefited 4,158 people, offering critical nutritional support amid the country’s prolonged conflict and economic instability.
Somalia also received substantial aid, with KSrelief distributing 1,200 food packages to impoverished families in Baidoa. The relief effort reached 7,200 people, alleviating hunger in a region struggling with food shortages and climate-related challenges.
Now in its fourth phase, the Etaam Ramadan project aims to distribute more than 390,000 food parcels across 27 countries throughout the holy month. The initiative is expected to benefit 2.3 million people and carries a budget of over SR67 million ($17.8 million).
In addition to food packages, KSrelief extended further support in Syria by distributing 2,812 cartons of dates to families in Tal Shihab, Daraa governorate. This effort provided direct nutritional assistance to 2,812 families, reinforcing KSrelief’s commitment to addressing food insecurity in the region.
In Sudan, KSrelief continued its outreach efforts by supplying 630 food baskets to communities in Port Sudan. This aid supported 3,561 impoverished and displaced individuals, offering relief to those affected by ongoing conflict and displacement.
KSrelief’s continued humanitarian efforts align with Saudi Arabia’s broader commitment to global relief initiatives, particularly during the Ramadan season. The organization remains a key player in addressing food security challenges and providing emergency assistance in crisis-affected regions worldwide.
