Saudi Arabia has officially announced its Eid Al Fitr holiday schedule, with public sector employees set to begin their break on Sunday, March 30. Work will resume on Thursday, April 3. With the weekend falling on Friday, March 28, and Saturday, March 29, employees will enjoy an extended holiday period.
Meanwhile, students in Saudi Arabia will commence their Eid break on March 20, with classes resuming on April 6, as per the academic calendar issued by the Ministry of Education. The exact date for the first day of Eid Al Fitr will be determined upon the sighting of the crescent moon.
In Kuwait, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) has outlined two possible scenarios for the Eid holidays, contingent on the confirmed date of Eid. If the first day of Eid falls on Sunday, March 30, the official holiday will last for three days, from March 30 to April 1, with work resuming on Wednesday, April 2. However, if Eid is observed on Monday, March 31, the holidays will extend to five days, from March 30 to April 3, with work resuming on Sunday, April 6. The CSC also stated that state agencies will determine their specific holiday schedules in alignment with public interest.
Qatar is also preparing for the Eid celebrations, with March 30 expected to mark the first day of Eid Al Fitr 1446 AH. According to the Qatar Calendar House, astronomical calculations indicate that the crescent moon of Shawwal will be born on the evening of Saturday, March 29, at 1:58 pm Doha local time (10:58 am GMT). This forecast, as reported by Peninsula Qatar, suggests that Eid will likely be observed the following day.
The confirmation of Eid Al Fitr’s official start date across these nations remains dependent on the traditional moon sighting, which will be conducted by respective religious authorities. The extended holidays will provide citizens and residents ample time to celebrate the festive occasion with family and loved ones.
