Ever since technology started taking its first steps, there was no stopping it. Now, it has reached a maximum speed at which new gadgets are being invented on a regular basis. This, however, begs a very important question; is it better to keep up with the latest technological advancements, or should one just settle for what they have? It’s an eternal struggle to which the answer is not black and white. There are several areas that need to be taken into consideration. Your budget, the field you work in, as well as, your staff and their skill sets, are all factors you should be keeping in mind while making a decision. Even after all that, it wouldn’t be surprising if you were having a tough time making a decision. This is why we came up with a list of questions you should keep in mind as you go along with the decision making process.
1. Why would you want to settle?
You first need to understand your reasons behind wanting to stick to old technology. Once you do, you will find making your choices a lot easier. One of the common reasons is the fear of change. It is a normal aspect of humanity, however, it is not a strong reason to keep you from using new technology. On the contrary, not having enough money in the budget for a technology upgrade is considered a strong enough reason. This question aims to help you determine whether going with a refurbished phone is better for you, or not.
2. Why would you want to upgrade?
Do you need to get the most recent computer software, or do you want to? While there is nothing wrong with upgrading just because you want to treat yourself, or your employees, there are other reasons that are considered of a higher priority. For example, when it comes to most businesses, if they don’t keep up with the latest technology, they start falling behind; it affects their quality, and quantity, of work.
3. Settling or keeping up; which one do you need right now?
After answering those two questions above, it’s time to go back to the main dilemma. The rule of thumb here is that if keeping up is not going to harm you, it is better to upgrade than settle. Upgrading sends positive messages to clients, as well as, people in general. If you were a business owner, using the latest technology is guaranteed to keep you on the top. On the other hand, if your employees find it extra hard to deal with modern technology, it is better to wait, as upgrading would only slow you down.
The struggle between choosing the most functional and the most recent is not an easy one. Sometimes, the most recent technology isn’t the most functional which makes it a bit hard to choose. What you could do, however, is ask yourself these three questions. They aren’t designed to come up with an answer for you; yet, they do a very good job arranging the thoughts in your head. Good Luck!
